Weert, the greenest region in the world

Weert, also known as the ‘Gateway to Limburg’ is a lively town surrounded by green spaces, peace and tranquillity. The Municipality of Weert was named the ‘Greenest region in the world’ in 2014. As well as the title ‘Winner International Competition Communities in Bloom’, Weert also won second place in the Cultural Heritage category.

The green spaces are mostly to be found on the outskirts of the town. A unique green space is the border park Kempen~Broek that extends by way of the Belgian border through the municipality of Weert right into Nederweert. The recreational area called the IJzeren Man is part of it. But the town itself also has a lot of green spaces.
