'Open-air museum Weert'
Weert is the scene of numerous colourful, open-air artworks. From murals to painted electricity boxes, everywhere in the city you can find unique street art that brings the walls to life. With murals, graffiti and street art, Weert aims to make the city's storytelling visible. The street art brings the city's historical stories to life. For instance, there are several murals with Van Horne as their subject.
The Second World War is also the subject of some street art projects. There is also space for well-known fellow citizens of the city such as Johnnie Hoes. Other graffiti artists have the freedom to fill in their art in their own way. Like in the Hall of Fame in Weert, where every graffiti artist can take his or her stage.

The Columns Cabinet
The Columns Cabinet is a project by Angelo Martinus and Geert Loijen. They have asked graffiti and street art artists from all over the world to take their stage in Weert. By now, 40 works of art already adorn these columns. Among the works on display are those by Geert Loijen, aka Sapo, but there are also productions by foreign graffiti artists.
Van Horne in Graffiti
2018 was the 'Van Horne' year for Weert. It was then 450 years since Count Philips van Horne was beheaded on the Grote Markt in Brussels in 1568 for high treason and lese-majesty. Philips van Horne was a nobleman who played a leading role in the history of Weert. He figures prominently in the street art scene. In 2018, 450 years after his beheading, several murals depicting his image were created. So strolling through the city centre you will learn more about Weert's rich history.
Hushoven Bridge
Graffiti is art! The Hushoven Bridge in Weert has been a beautiful eye-catcher since 2016. Bridge pillars were then covered with graffiti by world-famous street artists such as Locatelli and Belin. But also by local street artists such as Nash and Sapo. Two years later, the remaining pillars were taken care of by Studio Toxic and Sapo.
Hall of Fame Weert
The Hall of Fame Weert is located across the canal at Het Zuilen Kabinet. It is a free zone where any graffiti artist may come and paint. Unlike the Zuilen Kabinet, this is a kind of 'practice area' where graffiti/street art artists can grab their own stage. Here, the offer is constantly changing.
