The church is in possession of no less than 90 statues. The oldest statues originate from the 15th and 16th century, this statue collection is very unique in its kind. With this treasure the Sint-Petrus Bandenkerk can call itself one of the richest churches in the Netherlands. The church in Venray was a crucial strategic vantage point. First in possession of the Germans and often shot at by Allied aircraft. Then blown up by the Germans just before their escape. The church tower is still accessible today. In the period 2019-2020, the St. Petrus Banden Church (Grote Kerk) in Venray was largely restored. The work took place in and around the tower, the nave and the choir. Meanwhile the restoration has succeeded and you can visit the church.
Visiting the church is possible during opening hours. Guided tours are also possible by appointment. You can contact Jan van Casteren (tel. 0478-584415). You really experience a piece of history!
