Route: approx. 71 km long. It's possible to cycle this route during the entire year. VVV Midden-Limburg, in cooperation with a number of catering establishments, has put together a Hap & Trap Maasstadjes cycle route; a cycle route with 3 culinary stops along the way on special terraces/ catering establishments.
Various distances (40 km / 57 km / 71 km)
The route can be started at the tourist offices in Roermond, Thorn and Stevensweert and is offered in various distances.
Because the red bicycle loop includes a ferry crossing between Ophoven (B) and Ohé en Laak (NL) € 1.00 per crossing, this loop is possible on a daily basis from May to September. In the months April and October only in the weekends. Check the correct sailing times of the ferry between intersection 22 (B) and intersection 01 (NL) via: www.rondjemethetpontje.nl.
Use the bridge connection at Maaseik (B) between intersection 24 and intersection 13 (NL) to cycle the route all year round without using the bicycle and foot ferry.
From Thorn or Stevensweert: approx. 40 km or 57 km.
From Roermond: approx. 57 km.
If you want to cycle the complete route (extended with loop to the Belgian town of Maaseik), the length is approx. 71 km (possible to cycle this route during the entire year). An ideal route for e-bike!
The Maasstadjes route leads through the special Maasplassen area. An area of natural beauty and picturesque villages, with numerous monuments that remind you of its rich history. During this cross-border route you make a small trip to Belgium. A crossing with a bycicle ferry takes you back to the Netherlands.
Drinks are not included, and have to be paid on the spot.
How does it work?
The Hap & Trap Maasstadjes cycle route is for sale for € 12.95 at the VVV /webshop. You will receive a route description, a clear map, and 3 vouchers that can be handed in to the participating catering establishments along the way. Drinks are not included in the price and are for your own account.
