Graaf van Horne cycling route

Cycle path

Lenght: 91 km. The Graaf van Horne Cycle Path is a 90 km cycle route that leads mainly through nature in and around Weert.

In cooperation with the municipality of Weert, the Graaf van Horne cycle path was created by Toer- en Wielerclub Weert on the occasion of the Van Horne year in 2018. 

The route starts at the train station in Weert and takes you past Castle Nijenborgh. The castle is a ruin built between 1455 and 1461 by Jacob van Horne. It continues passed the Minderbroedersklooster (monestry) which was founded by Jacob van Horne. 

The route takes you passed all the nature reserves in Weerterland, Het Land van Horne; namely the Weerterbos, De Weerterbergen, IIzerenman, Blauwe Meertje, Cuijpersberg, Laurabossen, Smeetshof, De Luijsen, Vosseven, Tungelerwallen, De Krang, De Banen and de Moeselpeel. There are several catering establishments on the route.
